In the 1960s, it was Grêmio, with players like Alcindo (the club’s all-time top scorer), Juarez Teixeira or Airton Pavilhão, who dominated the duel from a distance. This reign period (12 coronations between 1956 and 1968) follows the inauguration in 1954 of the new estádio Olímpico Monumental. It ended in 1969, but with one last satisfaction: Everaldo became in 1970 the first player in the history of Grêmio to be called in Seleção. A month later, he raised the World Cup. Pride.
