CELTIC 1967 retro jersey: On 25 May 1967, at the Lisbon national stadium, the final of the Champion Clubs’ Cup was played between Celtic Glasgow and Inter Milan. The Italians are obviously favorites, they who won the 1964 and 1965 editions. This is the great Inter of Helenio Herrera, with its legends Facchetti and Mazzola. It’s the handsome Sandro who opened the scoring in the 7th minute. Behind, the Interisti apply their famous catenaccio, and the Scots inexorably stumble on the black and blue wall. Pole, bar, guardian’s parades … Nothing to do. But in the 62nd minute, Tommy Gemmel finally managed to equalize. The Italian wall is crumbling and Bobby Murdoch strikes him the final blow ten minutes from time. 2-1, Celtic Glasgow is European champion for the first time in its history. The “Lisbon Lions” have just written their legend.
