FRANCE 1966 AWAY retro jersey: 1966 does not necessarily bring back fond memories to the France team. The Kopa and Piantoni generation is gone, and the Di Nallo, Revelli and other Combins are having a hard time carrying the legacy. Qualified for World Cup 66 after a near faultless qualifying round, France finds itself in the group of England, host country, Uruguay and Mexico. After a draw against Mexico (1-1), the Habs are beaten by Uruguay, 2-1. It takes a miracle against England to pass, and the miracle does not happen. The English, future world champions, won 2-0, and sent the Blues to the other side of the Channel. Henri Guérin was fired in stride, and it was not until October 22, and a qualifying match at the Euro against Poland, that France finally won its first victory of the year 1966. Hurry, the years 70!
